German A1.1 Online Course – Learn German from the beginning
Our German A1.1 online course is for beginners.
Beginners are people who do not yet speak German or only know a few words.
In this course, you will learn the basics of the German language.
Everything is explained slowly, clearly and simply.
You can learn from the comfort of your own home.
All you need is a computer, tablet or mobile phone and an internet connection.

Course structure and scope
The course has a clear structure:
- 8 teaching units (TU) per week
- 4 sessions per week, each lasting 2TU
- Duration: 12 weeks = approx. 3 months
- Group: 6–10 participants
- Location: Online via Zoom or Google Meet
One teaching unit (TU) lasts 45 minutes.
This means that you will learn for approximately 6 hours per week.
This is enough time to make rapid progress, but not too much to interfere with your work or family life.
How a lesson works
- Review: We start by talking about the last lesson. This helps you to remember what you have learnt.
- New words and grammar: You learn new words, simple sentences and important rules.
- Speaking: You practise in a group. You ask questions and answer them. You have short conversations.
- Listening and reading: You listen to short conversations and read short texts.
- Writing: You write sentences, short texts or simple emails.
- Homework: At the end, you are given exercises. You can continue learning at home.
- This way, you learn all four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Topics in the course
The topics are important for everyday life in Germany:
- Greetings: Good day, hello, goodbye
- Introducing yourself: Name, origin, occupation
- Family and friends
- Numbers, time, days, months
- Living: Flat, room, furniture
- Shopping: Food, clothing, prices
- Leisure: Hobbies, sports, travel
- Work and occupation
- Health: Doctor, pharmacy
- City: Bus, train, orientation
- Forms: Simple letters and applications
With these topics, you will quickly be able to hold simple conversations.
Example:
- You are shopping in the supermarket.
- You ask for directions.
- You make an appointment with the doctor.
- You talk about your family.
What will you be able to do after the course?
After 12 weeks, you will be able to:
- understand and hold short conversations
- read simple texts
- write short texts
- find your way around everyday situations more easily
You will have a vocabulary of around 800–1000 words.
You will have learned to form simple sentences using the most important verbs and rules.
