What will you learn in module C1.1?
At C1 level, it’s no longer just about being understood, but about linguistic precision, style and nuance. In module C1.1, you train the four core skills at a high level in a targeted way:
- ✓ Speaking: You discuss complex topics, argue in a differentiated way and express fine shades of meaning.
- ✓ Listening: You understand demanding lectures, specialist discussions and media content, even at a fast pace.
- ✓ Reading: You grasp long, complex specialist and factual texts as well as literary and academic texts.
- ✓ Writing: You write structured essays, reports, summaries and formal correspondence.
You also expand your vocabulary with idiomatic expressions, specialist terms and a sophisticated, differentiated style. You deepen complex grammatical structures and learn to use them consciously and appropriately. We work with authentic materials from study, work and public life, so you use the language exactly as you’ll encounter it in real C1 situations.
German C1 for studying and university
For many international students, C1 level is the key to studying in Germany. German universities usually require proof at this level – for example through TestDaF, the DSH exam or a Goethe/telc C1 certificate. In the C1.1 course, you build the linguistic foundation for this: you learn to understand academic texts, follow lectures, structure assignments and hold your own in academic discussions. This brings you a decisive step closer to your study goal.
German C1 for work and career
A confident C1 level also opens doors in professional life. Many qualified positions – especially in academic, medical, technical and commercial fields – require German at C1 level. With C1, you can hold demanding specialist conversations, give presentations, write complex emails and reports, and work confidently in German-speaking teams. For the recognition of foreign professional qualifications, C1 is often decisive as well.
How does the intensive course work?
Our German C1.1 intensive course in Berlin runs from Monday to Friday, with 20 lessons per week. Module C1.1 comprises 80 lessons and lasts about four weeks, so you progress quickly and in a structured way.
